Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig November 21, 1983) is an American actress best known for her roles as Shannon Rutherford on the ABC television show Lost and Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. The couple had separated and they moved together with their mother into Los Angeles. They were struggling to make ends meet and was offered her first part in the acting world as Rachel's Room's leading character. The film for television Murder in Greenwich where she portrayed 15-year-old Martha Moxley earned her the nomination of a Young Artist Award. Grace Rutherford was the main actress in Lost in its two initial seasons. In 2004 she received the Screen Actors Guild Award with all the cast. Leaving the series Grace wanted to appear as a film actress, and had played opposite Tom Welling in The Fog in 2005. The role she played was Kim Mills opposite Liam Neeson (both in Taken 2008) on Suburban Girl as well as the Jane Austen Book Club. In 2008, she reprised the role Taken 2 (2013) and Taken 3 (2015). The actress also appeared in Alice as Alice in Malice in Wonderland which is an updated interpretation from Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace reprised the role as Shannon for two additional episodes of Lost which included the finale of the series. She also appeared in the sixth episode of Californication. She portrays Faith who's both a star-gazer and socialite. Hank Moody, played by David Duchovny, falls for her. Being part of the Gyllenhaal Family, she is the daughter and elder sister to the actor Jake Gyllenhaal. In her early teens She appeared in small roles in films made by her father. She also she co-starred alongside her sister in Donnie Darko, a cult classic. Later, she was on the screen in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and Mona Lisa Smile (both 2002). Gyllenhaal's lead roles in Secretary, a romantic comedy-drama erotico, and Sherrybaby (a film) have earned her nominations to the Golden Globe Award. Following a string of commercially successful movies in 2006 such as World Trade Center she received wider recognition for playing Rachel Dawes in the superhero film The Dark Knight (2008). After her successful performance as a mother who is not married on the screen in Crazy Heart (2009), she was awarded the Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Then she appeared in dramas and comedies which included Nanny McPhee's Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011 and Won't Back Down 2012 The other roles she's played includes Secret Service agents in White House Down (2013 Action thriller), actors in Frank (2014 Drama The Kindergarten Teacher 2018) in addition to her role as the kindergarten teacher. Gyllenhaal began her professional career as director, screenwriter and script writer. she wrote and directed the psychological thriller The Lost Daughter. The film was awarded Best Screenplay at the Venice International Film Festival, and it was nominated by the Academy Award.
